The Concept
I decided to use the slightly curved letter from the logo as a distinctive recurring pattern throughout the project. Since the festival focuses on the theme of immigration and needed an Israeli touch, I selected photos of Jewish immigrants arriving in Palestine from the early 20th century.
Both photos symbolize the newness and uncertainty of life in immigration.
In the second case, beyond the obvious references to intellectuals, cultural figures, emigration, and persecution, there are deeper allegorical meanings.
The ship represents a journey to an uncertain or defined destination. Culture, depicted as a ship, serves as a safe space amidst the chaos, positioned at the heart of tumultuous events, yet capable of guiding you safely to shore.
Additionally, the word pattern 'Freedom of culture / culture of freedom' runs throughout the entire graphic.
By mirroring the phrase and presenting it in different variations, we invite participants to reflect on this concept: what comes first.
